Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary

The Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Thrissur/Trichur district of Kerala. It is spread over an area of 125 sq km and is around 20 km east of Thrissur. The Peechi Vazhani wildlife sanctuary is a part of the Palapilli Nelliampathy forests. There is abundance of flora and fauna life in and around the sanctuary. One can also enjoy boat ride at the Lake in the sanctuary.
The major species include spotted deer, leopards, bison, sambar deer, wild dogs, kraits, turtles, bison and elephants. The Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is also blessed with tiger, barking deer, bonnet macaques, vipers, darters, little cormorants, and black eagles. The Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is also blessed with a large collection of herbs, shrubs, trees and climbers. Moreover, the Peechi Vazhani wildlife sanctuary is rich in its collection of snakes. Almost all the species found in India, are also found here.
The best Time to visit Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is from October to March. During this time, the weather is very pleasant and charming.
