Agasthyakoodam
Agasthyakoodam is the second highest peak in Kerala, at a height of 1890mts above sea level and is a part of the Sahyadri range of mountains. It is 60 Kms North East of Trivandrum.
The mountain has a mythical history as the home of Siddha medicine. Agasthyakoodam is considered to have been the abode of the sage Agasthya, the foremost among the Siddhars who developed the Siddha medical system. Agasthyakoodam and its surrounding Western Ghats, all 1500m above sea
level, constitute a complete ecosystem of bio-diversity. Eight percent of the plant species found here are unique to this region.
You can embark on a trekking tour to reach the top of the Agasthyakoodam or Agastya Malai as it is also known .It atkes two days to reach the top which is 28km away. You can do trekking here
only between December-April. Agastya Malai is also a pilgrimage destination , you get to see life size sculpture of Sage Agastya here. The medicinal herbs found at Kerala Agasthyakoodam Tours are
